DynaWerx Is Now Harness Technology

Friday, April 30, 2010

We've changed our name! Why?

Well, to be honest, DynaWerx is a bit of an odd name. It was derived from the words "dynamic" and "works" (as in: "works of art" or "inner works"). But I had to get creative with the spelling in order to obtain a domain name for it. This seems to have been a really bad idea.

It all comes down to the spelling. After business started picking up locally, I noticed frustration with potential clients when it wasn't spelled using the conventional spelling of "works". I would spell it at least twice in most cases, and many folks would make comments that alerted me to the fact that they were either annoyed by it or thought it was silly. And I totally understand.

I never really got frustrated with spelling it, but it was obvious to me that if my clients were frustrated, then they might not call me back. Or, if they wanted to visit my website, they might not remember the spelling. The last thing I want to do is annoy my customers and also make it hard for them to find me again.

Anyway, our new company name is Harness Technology, based on my last name. The double-meaning makes it more interesting as well. I truly wish I'd thought of this name sooner. I guess it was obvious and right in front of my eyes so I missed it. ;-)

The business name is now officially registered with the State of Oregon and the new domain name, harntech.com, has been registered as well. There are no plans to change the overall site design at this time, so dynawerx.com and harntech.com will both bring you here.
